Damian led us through not only the techniques & execution of completing our very own Icons from start to finish, but also gave us the background & significance of this ancient “Icon Writing” tradition.

“Angels in my Studio”

Happy MLK Holiday, everyone! On the wings of the courageous Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I, too, would like to say: “I have a dream…” Do you have a dream?? I’ll bet you do. Several years ago, while living in a new city (suburb, really) with my husband and two preschool children, a seed was planted in me. I had no family or friends in this new place, so I spent a lot of time by myself or in the company of the children. I was no longer working as an International Flight Attendant, as I had done for many years. Instead I had chosen, with the support of my husband, to stay home and raise the kids. Firstly, I must say, I’m really happy with that choice. But some of those days, as I’m sure many stay-at-home parents will agree with me on, were extremely challenging. But, gradually, things began to change. I believe that every cloud does, indeed, have a silver lining. And often, behind that cloud, waiting in that silver lining, is an angel. Now, my angels come in many forms.  Sometimes, they appear in dreams or thoughts; sometimes in image, word or prayer. But, I must say that, at least for me, my favorite angels appear in human form. I can cite a number of examples, but I’m certain that if you think about it for a moment, you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Which brings me to my point. I believe in DREAMS, just as Dr. Martin Luther King did. And, I believe in ANGELS. And this is why I am so excited to announce, that I will be teaching in an on-line course, beginning in May, called “ANGELS IN MY STUDIO,” led by Sheri Ann Ponzi! We will be joined by a number of other amazing artists & teachers, as well. So, you see, I believe in myself & my dreams, I believe in the messages received from angels & I believe in YOU! Just look at me for an example. I am now a working artist, & fulfilling yet another dream: teaching an on-line spiritual & creative workshop with an incredible group of artists & teachers. Balancing the Holidays & Having Fun at the Same time

We often hear & even feel the ‘stress’ of the so-called “Holiday Season.” That window of time that falls between Thanksgiving (in the US) & New Year’s Day. This is a season that most of us (especially children)look forward to as the glorious celebration at the end of 1 year & the anticipation of a fresh start to a new year. There are parties, events & the like for any number of occasions that fall into this time frame. It sounds just wonderful & fun, until we are actually in the midst of it.Parties to attend, gifts to purchase, meals to prepare, in-laws, blood relatives, bosses to entertain & be entertained by.

So why do so many of us end up feeling drained, exhausted, resentful & overwhelmed during this most joyous time of year? I’m sure that we all have different reasons, triggers, “history” & the like that bring us to a place of

dissatisfaction & anxiety.

Sooooo….. I, as Glitter Gypsy, am here to propose a couple of solutions to all of this.

1. Keep things simple & focus on relationships & fun, rather than winning “Moistest Turkey of the Year award.”

2. Remember to take care of yourself 1st, so that you have more of the “Fun You” to share, which is really what people are craving now (meaningful relationships.)

3. Do something “just for you.” If someone asks you what you would like for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc., tell them that you would really like to have an “experience” more than a traditional “gift.” And this is where I can help. I’m so excited about this one that I’ll apologize in advance if this blog goes “all over the place.” So…… here’s what I’ve got for you ~(registration OPEN TO ALL WOMEN):

***3 DAY RETREAT~11/11/11~11/13/11

***REASON: TO CELEBRATE & BE A PART OF THE OPENING OF A NEW VORTEX ON VERY SACRED LAND ON 11/11/11. A VERY WELL KNOWN, RESPECTED & GIFTED KAHUNA WILL LEAD OUR ‘FIREPIT MEDICINE CIRCLE’ TO OPEN A NEW VORTEX THAT WILL LEAD US INTO A NEW PARADIGM ON MOTHER EARTH. SHE HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED BY HER ANCESTORS (NATIVES OF THIS SACRED LAND FOR MANY GENERATIONS) TO OPEN THIS PARTICULAR VORTEX TO USHER IN THE ‘NEW TIMES.’

KUMU LEADING US OUT TO THE FIREPIT FOR THE ANCIENT HEALING MEDICINE CIRCLE (TO BOTH HEAL US AND OUR PLANET AND INVITE IN THE NEW ENERGY.)

***Retire for the evening.

***11/12/11: Meet at 11:30a.m. in the Main Room (on-site) for my “OPENING RED THREAD CIRCLE CEREMONY”, introductions & coffee.

***12:30-1:30: Break for lunch/walk.

***1:30-6:00 : PAINTING ‘OUR EXPERIENCE’ FROM THE PREVIOUS NIGHT/MORNING.’ {Feel free to take walks/breaks/snacks as desired.}

OOOOH! Look at the Studio!

This is my studio, where I will be hosting my next “Women’s Creative Spirituality Workshop” on October 29th from 10:30~5:30, Theme: “Nichos.” There will also be another one on December 3rd(Cleansing Ritual) to round out the Fall Series. We will create our own “nicho” (tin & glass little shrines, that I chose & brought back from Mexico.)You will leave with your own hand-made nicho that you have created in 1 day! All materials & instructions are included. Feel free to create out on the lanais overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean & Koko Head, or at one of the many tables with a view inside the studio. You needn’t ANY art experience, as this will be a process lead from the heart.
