Glitter Gypsy in Oahu Open Studios~You’re Invited~November 14-15

Aloha, and welcome to another year of Oahu Open Studios, an island-wide *FREE* ART EVENT! Glitter Gypsy is excited to be participating again this year.

What is Oahu Open Studios? Fifty one local artists will be opening their art studios to the public over the next two weekends. Our event kicks off tomorrow evening at First Friday Arts Walk in Chinatown (November 6,2015, 6:00-9:00p.m.) with our Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition. Meet the artists & preview their artwork, while enjoying refreshments & live music. The art show will remain hanging there in the lobby of “Bishop Place” (1132 Bishop St. at Fort Street Mall-take the escalator up & pass the security guard to the “Main Lobby”) through November 20th.

“Weekend 1” Artist Open Studios (Central, North Shore & Windward Oahu) is November 7th-8th, 11a.m-6p.m., both days.

“Weekend 2” Artist Open Studios~ MY WEEKEND! ~ (Leeward Oahu~ Waianae to Honolulu to HAWAII KAI) is November 14th-15th, 11a.m-6p.m., both days

How Was Your Summer? Our Champagne Art Salon Was The Perfect Start to Mine…

How was your summer? Mine has been busy, and full of creative adventures! It began in June with the Champagne Art Salon that Lucie Lynch & I co-created, with the theme of “The Voice” emerging. Lucie is a sublime international singer & songwriter that I feel so fortunate to not only to call my friend, but a colleague as well. You’ve just got to check her out on Facebook or at http://www.lucieslighthouse.com. You’re going to love her & her mesmerizing voice & song writing.

So the evening began with an Open Studio Art Salon, mingling & sharing my art with the beautiful group of people that joined us. The champagne was flowing, delicious food was partaken & we all enjoyed the hypnotic views of Koko Head & the endless blue of the Pacific Ocean. What a treat it was! At 7:00pm, we gathered in our living room for an incredible living room concert with Lucie. I unveiled my latest painting, “She Activates Her Voice” & shared my story of her creation with everyone. I explained how this painting literally manifested itself by my using a method known as “Intentional Creativity,” as taught to me by artist & mentor, Shiloh Sophia McCloud. This is a process in which one sets a particular INTENTION for the painting and then intuitively ALLOWS the painting to come into form. A give & take relationship develops between the painting & the artist. Lucie then began the concert by telling us her story about activating her own voice & continued to sing & tell us many more stories through her beautiful music.

I am so grateful to everyone who attended, supported & had fun with us! I am humbly honored to have shared the stage with Lucie. First Friday Art Event~THIS FRIDAY~12/6 in Honolulu’s Chinatown~Come on by! (Sorry for the repeat-forgot to say what this link was about)

Come join me this Friday evening, December 6th, from 5:30-10-00p.m. at Honolulu’s “First Friday Art Event & Night Market.” I’ll be in the “Chinatown Courtyard,” located street level below the “Chinatown Artist Lofts” at 1126 Smith Street. Finish your Christmas shopping in one place! My current inventory of paintings, art prints, jewelry & more will be on sale for this one night event. I’ll also be having a drawing for a door prize. Just stop by & drop your business card or name & email in the box & I’ll let you know if you’ve won. You needn’t be present at the time of the drawing to win. We’ll also have live music, food & a *Secret Beer Garden* there. What’s not to like? For your information, I also accept the “ID Card” (Hawaii Isle Discount Card,) which will save you an additional 20% off all purchases! Not sure what to buy someone for Christmas or Hanukkah? Buy them a gift certificate for merchandise or one of my art workshops, parties or private lessons!

**Note: It’s a little tricky to find because it’s a courtyard, located between Smith and Maunakea Streets, with an entrance off either street. It lies with the square block between these two streets & N. Hotel Street & N. Pauahi St. (It’s not well marked, so if you can get within this square block, just poke around or ask where the Chinatown Artists lofts are.) One of the entrances is located catty-corner from the Maunakea Marketplace on Maunakea St. Whew! Trust me- that’s the hardest part, the rest will be fun! See you Friday! Thanks!

Hi everybody! It’s been a very busy & adventurous year & I must admit– I’ve been very absent here! I’m also on Twitter @SusanRisse, LinkedIn( Glitter Gypsy Risse) & am now getting started over on Instagram at glittergypsies. You can also check out my “OMG’s” (One Minute of Glitter) on my YouTube channel gypsyinparadise. I’m posting on Facebook nearly every day, so I really do hope that you will come on over to one or better yet (for me, anyway) ALL of these windows of my world & “friend, follow or like” me! I SO appreciate your following me here & really hope that I’ll see you over there now too! I’m also COMPLETELY REVAMPING my website (this one) http://www.glittergypsy.com to a beautiful, updated visual feast that will include all of my new artwork, offerings AND an on-line store, where you’ll be able to view & purchase my original art, giclees, prints, jewelry & more all in one place! Parsons New School of Design NYC comes to Honolulu for 1 Day Workshop

What an amazing event at the Kahala Resort in Honolulu, HI that I attended on Saturday. Professors Bliss Lau (Designer) & Jasmine Takanikos (Branding Strategist)from Parsons The New School of Design in NYC held a Master Class & Networking Workshop full of incredible information for creative entrepreneurs. Such a rare chance to learn from such successful leaders in their respective fields.I’m always eager to learn new information & new ways approaching business.
